MISSION.
Welcome to the Hong Kong and Portugal Cultural Association (HKPTCA).
Founded in the year 2022, HKPTCA embodies the essence of cultural amalgamation and unity between the vibrant communities of Hong Kong, mainland China, and the beautiful country of Portugal. At the core of our foundation lies the unwavering desire to be a beacon of hope, companionship, and support for immigrants from Hong Kong and mainland China who have made the brave decision to venture into a new chapter of their lives in Portugal. Through this challenging transition, HKPTCA stands as a steadfast companion, ensuring that every individual feels embraced and connected, despite being miles away from their homeland.
The soul of HKPTCA is deeply rooted in the rich tapestry of Chinese traditions and values. We fervently believe that embracing one’s cultural heritage is an essential aspect of personal identity. With that in mind, our association organizes regular reunions for families in Lisbon and other parts of Portugal. These gatherings are not just social events, but cultural conclaves where individuals can revel in the familiarity of traditional Chinese customs, and partake in the joy of sharing these moments with their kin.
As our members endeavor to find their footing in Portuguese society, HKPTCA aims to be a bridge that connects cultures and breaks down barriers. One of the significant hurdles faced by immigrants is the language barrier, and we tackle this challenge head-on. Through language classes, workshops, and exchange programs, we foster an environment conducive to learning and fluency in Portuguese. By empowering our members with linguistic skills, we play a pivotal role in helping them integrate seamlessly into the local culture and community.
However, our mission doesn’t stop at cultural and linguistic integration; we believe that true assimilation involves giving back to the community that has welcomed us.
